Historic District Designation Update July 2026
Shaun Rose, Historic District Coordinator, reports that the South Hull Application for Historic District status is still in process. However, because of staffing changes in the land use planning office, he says the final assessment report will not be ready to present to the City Council for several more months.
The effort to gain historic designation has spanned over a decade and was given new life when Libbi Crawford Cortez and her team of SHDA officers got the issue back on the City’s agenda two years ago.
Stop Signs on Gilmer
A request for new signage on Gilmer to reduce speeding traffic through between Fairview and Edgemont was submitted. The traffic engineering department responded, saying they would conduct a traffic study in the area, and ‘weigh the options.” Dates for the study have not yet been given. Updates to follow.
Street Lamps on Arlington
Sarah Gay Edwards has reported the need for street lighting along Arlington Road to the City. They responded, saying the order for lights was submitted but with no dates. Updates to follow.
